About the role
Who You'll Join
An early-stage AI startup with no dedicated security function yet. Security work is currently outsourced and handled ad hoc, so you will be the first person to own it properly. You will build the infrastructure, controls, and compliance posture from scratch.
What You'll Do
- Own IAM, secrets management, and network controls across AWS infrastructure.
- Write and maintain Terraform, Kubernetes configs, and CI/CD security tooling.
- Build access control systems and data privacy controls from the ground up.
- Lead SOC 2 Type II compliance end to end, not just advise on it.
- Secure AI and LLM application workflows as the product scales.
- Define and document security decisions with clear, structured reasoning.
- Manage vendor and tooling relationships across the security stack.
Who You Are
- Work as an infra, platform, or backend engineer who has owned security hands-on.
- Bring 5+ years of cloud or infrastructure security engineering, ideally on AWS.
- Have held at least one role at a startup or mid-size tech company.
- Implement Terraform, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines directly, not through delegation.
- Articulate security tradeoffs clearly under technical questioning.
- Actively use AI tools in your day-to-day engineering workflow.
- Bonus: Have secured AI or LLM applications at a VC-backed startup before.
Tech Stack
AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, IAM, SOC 2, secrets management tooling, LLM/agent security frameworks
Why You'll Thrive
- Receive $200K to $260K base salary plus stock options.
- Own the entire security function with no prior constraints to work around.
- Join at seed stage in a company moving fast through early growth.
- Build compliance and infrastructure posture that the whole company depends on.
- Work alongside engineers who came from high-growth technical environments.
