About the role

(Senior) Engineering Manager

Location: New York City / Hybrid In-person 3 days per week

Salary: $172K - $253K + Competitive equity

Industry: EdTech / HealthTech

Who you'll join

A Series C edtech company opening accessible pathways into healthcare careers, serving students from entry-level medical assistant programs all the way through to nursing degrees. The platform is fully in-house, growing fast from 40 to 115 people in a year, and now moving into B2B partnerships with major healthcare systems including HCA, Amazon Health, and Mount Sinai. You will join at a point where AI is being brought directly into the learning experience, with real decisions to make and real student outcomes on the line.

What you'll do

  1. Lead two pods of product engineers, removing blockers and improving delivery pace.
  2. Coach engineers through regular feedback, development plans, and promotion decisions.
  3. Hire three to five engineers per quarter, from sourcing through to onboarding.
  4. Partner with Product, Design, and Data to shape what gets built and when.
  5. Contribute roughly 20% of your time through code reviews, architecture, and individual contributions.
  6. Connect engineering output directly to student and business outcomes, not just ticket completion.
  7. Oversee work across learning experience, careers matching, and LLM-driven internal tooling.

Who you are

  1. Bring five or more years of engineering experience, with two to five years managing teams.
  2. Stay technically capable enough to do a system design interview and get hands-on when needed.
  3. Connect what your team builds to measurable outcomes, not just PM satisfaction.
  4. Have worked in a startup or fast-moving environment where priorities shift mid-quarter.
  5. Partner closely with product and design rather than waiting to receive requirements.
  6. Communicate with clarity and some genuine presence, you will be leading people, not just shipping code.
  7. Bonus: experience with adaptive learning platforms, LLM tooling, or ranking and matching algorithms.

Tech stack

Python, full-stack web development, AI/ML frameworks, LLM tools, adaptive learning platforms, ranking algorithms

Why you'll thrive

  1. Join a company doubling revenue with a clear path to profitability and a Series C it did not need to raise.
  2. Work on a product where the end user is a real person trying to change their life through healthcare education.
  3. Step into a visible role with a direct line to the SVP, with room to grow toward a more senior engineering leadership position.
  4. Receive $172K to $253K base plus competitive equity at a stage where that equity still means something.
  5. Build in a space combining EdTech and healthcare, with AI entering the core product at exactly the right moment.
