(Senior) Engineering Manager
Location: New York City / Hybrid In-person 3 days per week

Who you'll join
A Series C edtech company opening accessible pathways into healthcare careers, serving students from entry-level medical assistant programs all the way through to nursing degrees. The platform is fully in-house, growing fast from 40 to 115 people in a year, and now moving into B2B partnerships with major healthcare systems including HCA, Amazon Health, and Mount Sinai. You will join at a point where AI is being brought directly into the learning experience, with real decisions to make and real student outcomes on the line.
What you'll do
- Lead two pods of product engineers, removing blockers and improving delivery pace.
- Coach engineers through regular feedback, development plans, and promotion decisions.
- Hire three to five engineers per quarter, from sourcing through to onboarding.
- Partner with Product, Design, and Data to shape what gets built and when.
- Contribute roughly 20% of your time through code reviews, architecture, and individual contributions.
- Connect engineering output directly to student and business outcomes, not just ticket completion.
- Oversee work across learning experience, careers matching, and LLM-driven internal tooling.
Who you are
- Bring five or more years of engineering experience, with two to five years managing teams.
- Stay technically capable enough to do a system design interview and get hands-on when needed.
- Connect what your team builds to measurable outcomes, not just PM satisfaction.
- Have worked in a startup or fast-moving environment where priorities shift mid-quarter.
- Partner closely with product and design rather than waiting to receive requirements.
- Communicate with clarity and some genuine presence, you will be leading people, not just shipping code.
- Bonus: experience with adaptive learning platforms, LLM tooling, or ranking and matching algorithms.
