VP of Platform Engineering

Up to $500K + equity San Francisco, CA On-site Agentic AI for banking Series A 210 people

About the role

You will join a profitable, Series A agentic AI company bringing conversational and agentic AI to credit unions and community banks across the US. The platform is live, the products are shipping, and the engineering org is growing fast. You will work directly with the CEO and CTO on architecture, product releases, and new initiatives built from scratch.


What You'll Do

  1. Own the AI-native platform core end to end, including agent runtime and LLM orchestration.
  2. Manage and grow a platform engineering team of four, with headcount expanding.
  3. Partner daily with the CEO and CTO on product releases and new platform initiatives.
  4. Drive velocity, reliability, and quality across tooling, eval gates, and observability.
  5. Build and own retrieval systems, integrations, and the agent-authoring platform.
  6. Review PRs, make architecture calls, and write production code regularly.
  7. Scale the platform engineering org and its culture through the next stage of growth.


Who You Are

  1. Bring 10 or more years of engineering experience, with 4 to 6 years in leadership roles.
  2. Have production-scale experience in agentic systems, LLM infrastructure, or voice AI.
  3. Still write code, review PRs, and make architecture decisions yourself.
  4. Have led teams through scaling, whether by revenue, funding stage, or product growth.
  5. Come from a Series A to Series D startup, or show an exceptional trajectory from big tech.
  6. Built systems independently, not primarily through vendor or third-party tooling.
  7. Bonus: Have hands-on experience with RAG, agent runtimes, or evaluation frameworks for AI systems.
