About the role
Software Engineer
Location: San Francisco, CA or New York, NYC
Salary: $150K - $220K + Competitive equity
Industry: Insurance Technology
Who you'll join
An early-stage AI startup building a domain-specific platform for the insurance industry. The product automates manual workflows so insurance agencies and brokerages can focus on higher-value work. You will join a team of five engineers at a moment of real traction, with customers ranging from independent agencies to enterprise-level brokerages.
What you'll do
- Build and refine autonomous digital workers that automate insurance workflows end-to-end.
- Design, implement, and ship features across the full stack, from UI to infrastructure.
- Write backend APIs and services that power core platform functionality.
- Strengthen infrastructure across asynchronous processing, observability, and AI compute.
- Work directly with customers to understand their processes and deliver tailored solutions.
- Collaborate with the go-to-market team to break down requirements and shape the roadmap.
- Own decisions end-to-end and get working software into customers' hands fast.
Who you are
- Bring 3 or more years of software engineering experience, ideally in a startup environment.
- Solve complex problems by breaking them into smaller, manageable parts.
- Take full ownership of your work without waiting to be told what to do next.
- Ship across the stack; you go wherever the feature needs you.
- Communicate clearly with non-engineers and work well in a cross-functional team.
- Demonstrate spikes, strong GitHub contributions, personal projects, or early-stage startup experience.
- Bonus: have worked with AI or LLM systems, async processing pipelines, or observability tooling.
Tech stack
React, TypeScript, Golang, REST APIs, AI/LLM integrations, asynchronous processing, observability tools
Why you'll thrive
- Join as one of the first eight engineers and shape how the platform is built.
- Work directly under a CTO who built systems at Stripe, with real mentorship available.
- Own meaningful parts of the codebase from your first weeks on the job.
- Earn competitive equity in a well-backed company operating in a trillion-dollar market.
- Ship code that changes how thousands of insurance professionals work every day.
