About the role
Who You'll Join
A pre-seed AI startup building an integrated platform that brings modern cloud and automation capabilities to professional services. The founder is a former PE consultant with deep domain expertise who has already validated product-market fit and is preparing to raise seed funding. You will be the first technical leader, architecting systems that will power rapid growth and sales.
What You'll Do
- Build scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS to support growing user base and feature rollout.
- Architect and stabilize core platform systems, improving reliability from 85% to 95%+ uptime.
- Design and implement workflow automation features that let users query custom data sources and build LLM-powered pipelines.
- Establish technical direction and best practices, setting the foundation for future team growth.
- Collaborate directly with founder to balance robustness, feature development, and commercial roadmap.
Who You Are
- Built and shipped production systems at early-stage startups, moving from zero to market traction.
- Deep technical expertise in cloud infrastructure, backend systems, and modern AI tooling.
- Fluent in translating between technical implementation and business needs without losing rigor.
- Communicate clearly and ask clarifying questions when context is missing, rather than building in isolation.
- Comfortable working hands-on in code while also thinking strategically about platform direction.
- Bonus: Based in Boston or willing to work closely with the team on occasional in-person collaboration.
Tech Stack
AWS, Terraform, Python, Next.js, React, vector databases, knowledge graphs, LLM APIs.
Why You'll Thrive
- Join a product with real traction and revenue potential, not an idea. Founder is already closing users and has proven demand.
- Equity stake of up to 10% at pre-seed stage, with clear path to seed raise in months. Your technical decisions shape company direction.
- Work with a founder who deeply understands the customer domain and is committed to shipping quickly, not endless iteration.
- Salary of $180k-$220k reflects the seniority and impact required. You are the adult in the room technically.
- The market you are entering (professional services automation) is large, conservative, and ripe for disruption by AI-first tools.
