Software Engineer

Location: Boston, MA

Salary: $150K - $250K + Competitive equity

You will join a bootstrapped AI startup automating the office of the CFO for private-equity-backed businesses. The team of 19 has rebuilt its platform from scratch over the past year, has around 70 active customers, and is on a clear path to profitability. Revenue is accelerating month over month, and you will be joining at a point where the roadmap has more to build than the team has capacity to ship.


What you'll do


  1. Own end-to-end delivery of net-new product features, from scoping through production deployment.
  2. Build and architect scalable backend services and APIs using Python and FastAPI.
  3. Work directly with customers and finance teams to translate requirements into technical decisions.
  4. Make smart trade-off calls between business needs and technical constraints on live products.
  5. Use AI coding tools including Claude Code as a core part of your daily development workflow.
  6. Improve observability, reliability, and developer experience across a modern distributed platform.
  7. Report directly to the Head of Engineering with ownership of major product initiatives.


Who you are


  1. Bring 2 or more years of experience writing and shipping production software.
  2. Think in systems: you consider how software scales, operates, and serves real customers.
  3. Move quickly, take ownership, and do not need close supervision to produce good work.
  4. Communicate clearly about technical decisions and the reasoning behind trade-offs you made.
  5. Care about building products that solve customer problems, not just writing clean code.
  6. Have worked in a services or distributed systems environment, even if not at scale.
  7. Bonus: You have experience with financial data, general ledger systems, or PE-backed companies.
