Software Engineer
Location: Boston, MA
Salary: $150K - $250K + Competitive equity

You will join a bootstrapped AI startup automating the office of the CFO for private-equity-backed businesses. The team of 19 has rebuilt its platform from scratch over the past year, has around 70 active customers, and is on a clear path to profitability. Revenue is accelerating month over month, and you will be joining at a point where the roadmap has more to build than the team has capacity to ship.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end delivery of net-new product features, from scoping through production deployment.
- Build and architect scalable backend services and APIs using Python and FastAPI.
- Work directly with customers and finance teams to translate requirements into technical decisions.
- Make smart trade-off calls between business needs and technical constraints on live products.
- Use AI coding tools including Claude Code as a core part of your daily development workflow.
- Improve observability, reliability, and developer experience across a modern distributed platform.
- Report directly to the Head of Engineering with ownership of major product initiatives.
Who you are
- Bring 2 or more years of experience writing and shipping production software.
- Think in systems: you consider how software scales, operates, and serves real customers.
- Move quickly, take ownership, and do not need close supervision to produce good work.
- Communicate clearly about technical decisions and the reasoning behind trade-offs you made.
- Care about building products that solve customer problems, not just writing clean code.
- Have worked in a services or distributed systems environment, even if not at scale.
- Bonus: You have experience with financial data, general ledger systems, or PE-backed companies.
