About the role

Senior Software Engineer - Product

Location: San Francisco, CA, 5 days/week in office
Salary: $200K - $320K + 0.1-0.3% equity
Industry: Insurance Technology / AI Automation

Who You'll Join

A Series A AI startup building end-to-end automation for the $200 billion insurance broking industry. Insurance brokers are drowning in manual work, and you'll help transform how they operate. The team is small, focused, and shipping constantly. You'll work directly with founders and see your code impact customers immediately.

What You'll Do

  • Build agentic systems that log into legacy platforms, monitor data, and trigger workflows autonomously.
  • Develop full-stack features for a workflow platform replacing millions in outsourced spend.
  • Connect messy broker systems (email, CRM, comms) into a unified product layer.
  • Own both 0-to-1 product development and 1-to-10 scaling and optimization.
  • Ship features weekly, incorporating customer feedback into every iteration.
  • Debug and optimize performance across the entire stack.
  • Balance technical decisions with user needs and business goals.

Who You Are

  • 4+ years shipping products at VC-backed companies (Series B+, up to ~$5B valuation).
  • Strong TypeScript proficiency with Python experience valued.
  • Proven full-stack capabilities: comfortable in both frontend and backend work.
  • Educated at a top global university (top 50 preferred) in CS or engineering discipline.
  • Comfortable moving fast and shipping incrementally to customers.
  • Bonus: Experience building with AI frameworks, React, Node.js, AWS, Docker, or PDF processing libraries.

Tech Stack

Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL, API integrations, React, Node.js, AWS, Docker, LLM frameworks, PDF processing libraries.

Why You'll Thrive

  • Equity scales with experience: 4-year engineers at $200K see 0.1%, while 7+ year engineers at $300K+ see 0.3%.
  • Work on genuinely hard problems: thousands-page PDF parsing, browser automation, agentic AI workflows.
  • Insurance has had no digital transformation until now. You're building the first software-first operation platform for an untouched $1.5T industry.
  • Small, high-signal team of 2-3 senior engineers. No bureaucracy. Direct access to founders and customers.
  • Beautiful in-person office in Jackson Square with strong team culture and regular offsite events.
